I am an end user, where can I buy your products?
We sell Fortuna products through our distributors, so please advise where you are located and we will introduce you a distributor.
 
 
Clip-on
   
What is the firmware version of my Clip-on?
1. The latest Clip-on firmware version is Xtrac 2.02.
2. Please take out the battery and find a serial No. in the Clip, LXXXXXXXX, and please send us a email (service@fortuna.com.tw) for us to check if your Clip-on is with 2.02 firmware version.
3. If your Clip-on is not the Xtrac 2.02 version and you want to upgrade your firmware, we let our dealers deal with the firmware upgrade for our Clip-on GPS receiver, so please contact your dealer to upgrade the latest firmware version.
 
What can the Clip-on work with?
The Clip-on can work with any device with Bluetooth built-in and the Bluetooth must support SPP (Serial Port Profile).
 
What is the PIN for bonding the Clip-on with Bluetooth device?
The PIN is “0000”
 
How to connect the Clip-on with Bluetooth device?
1. Switch on the Clip-On BTGPS.
2. Turn on your device.
3. Go to “Bluetooth Manager” on your device.
4. Select “Search for BT devices”.
5. After found the” Clip-On BTGPS” then “Select” and “Save” it.
6. Go to “Action” and select “SPP slave.”
7. Enter the pass key “0000” if required.
8. Click on the “Clip-On BTGPS” icon and then a 2 way arrow shows the Bluetooth is linking.
9. The Clip-On Bluetooth GPS LED light should be on and it means the Bluetooth link has been established.
10. Start your software application.
11. Turn on map, there is a setting feature. Do not use auto detecting mode. Manually set up the GPS at proper Com Port (usually is Com Por 8 or 5, if both do not work, please try others), Baudrate 38400, and NMEA0183 V2.2 binary.
 
How to switch ST / XT Mode of Clip-on?
The image to the below is currently showing the Fortuna in ST mode (with the pin prick hole on the left), switching the Fortuna off and pushing this pin hole to the right will move it into XT mode, but this can only be done when the GPS is off, as the slider to the left covers the hole, and Fortuna are doing something special here by gating between different chips so you do have to have the GPS Receiver powered off for this.
   
  If the switch is in the middle, the GPS is unable to work.
 
 
What navigation software is compatible with the Clip-on?
The Clip-on is compatible with navigation software that supports NMEA message.
 
Can the Clip-on work with two navigation programs at the same time?
No, the Clip-on cannot work with two navigation programs at the same time.
Therefore, if there are more than one navigation program installed in your Bluetooth device, please only open one program, when you connect the Clip-on with your device.
 
Can the Clip-on work with two Bluetooth devices at the same time?
No, the Clip-on can work with only one Bluetooth device at one time.

What is the difference between U2 USB, U2 RS232 and U2 PS/2? What kind of U2 can work with my device?
U2 USB and U2 RS232 both are for PC/laptop and they cannot work with PDA/Smartphone.
  U2 PS/2 is for PDA and you need to buy an additional cable to connect U2 PS/2 to your PDA, and please check U2 product webpage if there is available cable for your PDA.
  If you have a U2 PS/2 and you can buy a PS/2 to USB cable to work with your PC/laptop.
 
What navigation software is compatible with the U2?
The U2 is compatible with navigation software that supports NMEA message.
 
How does U2 PS/2 connect with PDA? Does it need a driver to work with PDA?
After pluging the connector to your PDA, please make sure following settings are right: the COM port (depending on what PDA you use and please review instruction of your PDA), baudrate 4800 bps, NMEA 0183 v2.0.
 
Does U2 PS/2 need driver to work with PDA?
No, U2 PS/2 does not need driver to work with PDA.
 
Use U2 USB Version under XP and what kind of software is necessary?
Please download driver of U2 USB for XP in our U2 download webpage.
 
How to install U2 USB driver to PC/laptop?
Please download the driver to the Disk → extract the driver files from the disk to the hardware, like (C:\documents\USB Driver) →insert the USB cable to the computer USB connector→find the folder which you save driver files→select the right COM PORT (My computer→Contents→hardware→Install Manager→Com & LPT →USB to Serial Port
 
U2 USB communication to Laptop?
Besides the COM port, please also make sure the baudrate 4800 bps, NMEA 0183 v2.2.
 
What is the power source for U2 GPS USB?
The USB configuration allows you to connect the GPS to your laptop and it is also the power source.
 
GPSmart / GPSmartBT
   
What is the difference between GPSmart and GPSmartBT?
They are all the same except that GPSmartBT is with Bluetooth bult-in
 
How to connect the GPSmart with my PC/laptop via USB cable?
Please make sure the USB cable is made by Fortuna, and please download USB driver and firmware upgrade instruction from GPSmart download page for you to install the USB cable.
 
How to download waypoints from the GPSmart to my PC/laptop?
Track points can be downloaded by Fortuna made GPSmart USB cable only. The download file can be used only under Fortuna Sync program. The file is not compatible with other navigation program.
  Please download the Fortuna Sync software from our download webpage.
 
How to upgrade GPSmart firmware version?
Please note you have to use Fortuna made USB cable to update the firmware and when you use the cable, it is better to take out the batteries. Please find the firmware upgrade instruction from the GPSmart download page.
 
Can the GPSmart be run on rechargeable batteries instead of normal batteries?
GPSmart can be used with AAA rechargable battery. However, the rechargable battery can not be charged by GPSmart external power cord.
 
How does GPSmartBT connect PC via Bluetooth?
1. Turn on the GPSmart BT and please go to “SETTING” and then “BLUETOOTH” to select “ON”.
2. From your PC go to “My Bluetooth Place”
3. Select “View Bluetooth Device in Range”
4. Once Clip-On Icon has been found please double click on the Icon
5. Please enter “0000” for passkey and then select “SPP Slave”
6. Once you have seen the green crossing arrow on the SPP Slave Icon please “Right Click” and select “Properties”. You should be able to see the comport number from the sub window. Please remember this comport number as you will use it from your software setting.
7. Start your Navigation software application
8. Go to Setting and select baudrate and comport
9. Please check your device manager what COM-Port is used for the Bluetooth Serial Port and Connect your device with this settings and Baudrate 38400.
10. Once the setting is completed then you should be able to see the NMEA output starts to run.
 
How does GPSmartBT connect PDA through Bluetooth?
1. Turn on the GPSmart BT and please go to “SETTING” and then “BLUETOOTH” to select “ON”.
2. Turn on your PDA and go to “Bluetooth Manager”
3. Select “Search for New Bluetooth Device”
4. Please Select the “GPSmart BT” Icon
5. Please enter “0000” for the passkey
6. Please Select the “ACTION” Icon and then select “SPP Slave”
7. Once you have selected the SPP Slave you should be able to see a 2 way green crossing arrow on the GPSmart BT Icon
8. Start your Navigation software
9. Go to Setting and select baudrate and comport
10. Please check your device manager what COM-Port is used for the Bluetooth Serial Port and Connect your device with this settings and Baudrate 38400.
11. Once the setting is completed then you should be able to see the NMEA output starts to run.
  If for any reason the NMEA output does not appear to be running then please select a different comport or contact your software supplier for the correct bluetooth com port.
 
PocketTrack / PocketXtrack
Does PocketTrack / PocketXtrack need driver to work with PDA?
No, they do not need driver to work with PDA.
 
How to make the PocketTrack / PocketXTrack communicate with my PDA?
Please confirm if you put the PocketXTrack into the Type II CF card slot. If yes, please open your software and make sure following settings are right: the COM port (depending on what software and PDA you use and please review instruction of PDA and Software), baudrate 4800 bps, NMEA 0183 v2.0.
